Friend Forever
One day, while Raghu was going home, he saw a couple coming towards him. Seeing them, he thought, “It would be nice if I also had a life like this.” Thinking that, he kept walking forward.
Raghu did not notice the bus coming towards him.
He was still walking forward, looking at that couple.
A girl who saw this pushed Raghu aside and saved him from being hit by the bus. Raghu fell down. The bus went away.
Raghu slowly got up. The girl said to him,
"Didn’t you see the bus coming, or can’t you see at all?"
Raghu replied, "I am blind. I cannot see."
The girl said, "Oh, I’m sorry. Tell me where you want to go. I will take you there."
Raghu said, "It’s okay. I live nearby. I will go myself. Thank you for saving me." And he left from there.
After a few days, Raghu saw the same girl near an orphanage, distributing clothes and sweets to children.
He went near her. The girl recognized Raghu.
Raghu said,
"I’m sorry. That day I lied to you saying I was blind."
He also explained everything he had seen and thought that day.
At first, the girl scolded Raghu. Later, she understood him.
Both of them together distributed clothes and sweets to the children and then went to a nearby restaurant.
In the restaurant, Raghu asked, "What is your name, where you will stay and what job your doing?"
The girl said, "The girl said my name is Vaidehi. I am from Guntur, for job purpose I came to Hyderabad. Past 1.5 year am doing job as a US It recruiter. I am located at Kukatpally and my work location is a high-tech city. What do you do?"
Raghu said, "My name is Raghu and l'm looking for a job.
I want to become a Journalist. That to into to investigation side like to revel the suspense behind the history.
Vaidehi asks, " Where do you stay in Hyderabad?"
Raghu said, " I will stay at Secundrabad. If you don't mine can I have your number Vaidehi?
Vaidehi said, "Why do you need my number?"
Raghu said, "I am looking for a job and you said you are a recruiter. If any vacancies are there I'll ask you otherwise you can suggest my name."
Vaidehi agreed and gave her number. Raghu also gave his number to her.
Raghu said, "Okay thank you Vaidehi. It's time to leave I'll go. I will meet you some other time"
Vaidehi said, "Okay then bye take care".
After one week, Vaidehi called Raghu.
"Hello Raghu, this is Vaidehi. How are you?"
Raghu said, "I’m fine. How are you?"
Vaidehi said, "I’m fine too. There is an interview in our office tomorrow. You said you are looking for a job, so I called you."
Raghu said, "Really? Thank you. Please tell me the time. I will come."
Vaidehi gave him the interview details.
The next day, Raghu went for the interview. With Vaidehi’s help, Raghu got the job.
A few months passed. Raghu and Vaidehi became very good friends.
One night, Vaidehi called Raghu and started crying.
Before Raghu could ask what happened, she cut the call.
Raghu called her back. Her phone was switched off.
After some time, Vaidehi called him and said,
"Nothing happened to me. I am fine. I will talk tomorrow in the office."
Raghu said okay.
The next day in the office, Raghu asked,
"What happened last night? Why were you crying?"
Vaidehi said,
"I will tell you in the afternoon. Now I have work."
In the afternoon, they went to the food court.
Raghu asked, "Who is he?"
Vaidehi said, "Who?"
Raghu said,
"You cried last night for someone. Who is he?"
Vaidehi said,
"Nothing. I just remembered my parents."
Raghu said,
"If you miss your parents, you would call them. But you called me. That’s my doubt. I am your friend, right? Tell me what happened."
Vaidehi said,
"How do you know I was crying for someone?"
Raghu said,
"You have a good job, good salary, caring parents, good friends. If you are still crying means, it must be for someone you love."
Vaidehi says,
“Yes, what you said is true. I cried for my Ram.”
“Ram and I grew up together since childhood. We studied together. Ram was always there for me and supported me. His dream was to become a Navy officer.
He studied very hard and finally joined the Navy. He used to call me every day, but for the past one month, Ram has not called. One month ago, he called and said he had some important work and that he would call me after returning. But he never did.”
“Last night, I called Ram, but there was no answer. At that moment, I remembered you and called you. I cried because I was in pain. I’m sorry for troubling you.”
“I don’t talk much with boys, but when I saw you, your actions, and the care you show me, they reminded me of Ram.”
Raghu asks,
“Did you tell your family about your love for Ram?”
Vaidehi replies,
“Yes. Both Ram’s family and my family are happy with our marriage.”
Raghu says,
“Don’t worry about anything. Whatever happens will be for our good. I am with you I'll support all the time like Ram. I won't replace the place of Ram but in any situation I am with you.."
Vaidehi replies, "Thank you for understanding Raghu".
A few weeks later, Vaidehi’s parents come to meet Ram’s parents.
Vaidehi calls Raghu and says,
“My parents are came from my village. I am going to Ram’s house to meet them. It would be nice if you also come. I will introduce you to my parents.”
Raghu replies,
“Okay, I will come.”
At Ram’s house:
Vaidehi speaks to Ram’s father and asks,
“Where is Ram, uncle? He is not answering my calls. It’s been one month since I last spoke to him.”
Saying that, Vaidehi tries to call Ram.
The phone starts ringing. Ram’s phone is with Raghu.
Seeing this, Vaidehi was shocked and says,
“How do you have Ram’s phone, Raghu? What happened to Ram?”
Then Ram’s father takes Vaidehi to Ram’s room.
Inside the room, Ram’s photo is decorated with a garland.
Seeing that, Vaidehi feels dizzy and collapses.
After some time, Vaidehi regained consciousness, she asked about Ram. Then Raghu took initiation and he explained about Ram.
Raghu speaks to Vaidehi and says:
“I met Raghu on the very first day of our Navy training. Since we were both from Hyderabad, we quickly became close friends. Raghu was extremely active and disciplined, and he soon became the topper of our batch. In his free time, he would always be on his phone.”
One day I asked him whom he kept talking to on the phone. That’s when Ram told me about you. He said you are so cute and childish and you are most responsible person.
Ram always says "she is a perfect match for me, I never ever leave her in my life because I love her I want to spend the rest of my life with her and he explained your love story".
He used to say how deeply he loved you and how lucky he felt to have you in his life.
You were everything to Ram. Every time he spoke about you, there was an unknown happiness in his face.
The next day, we got information that drug smugglers were transferring their goods in the middle of the sea. We went to catch them, but during that encounter, we didn’t know what happened to Ram. No matter how much we searched, we couldn’t find him.
The day before that incident, Ram told me this:
‘If something happens to me, Vaidehi won’t survive. Whether I am there or not, Vaidehi should live happily, Raghu. I am telling you this because I never share my personal matters with anyone, but when I see you, I feel like you are my brother.
“That’s why I came to Hyderabad. I created a situation to meet you and I followed you from the very first day I arrived here.
For Ram’s sake, I came to you. My friend’s last wish was that you should stay happy. When I saw you crying, I had no choice but to tell you the truth. I spoke to your parents and made sure that you came to Ram’s house. I came here to support you, and I will always stand by you.”
Raghu finishes telling everything that happened to Vaidehi.
After that, Vaidehi drifted away from happiness. She would always think about Ram and remain sad.
Seeing this, Raghu decided to bring happiness back into Vaidehi’s life. He started taking her to every place where Ram and Vaidehi had once gone together, thinking that by reliving those moments, she might remember the happy times she spent with Ram and slowly forget her pain.
Raghu’s efforts gradually began to change Vaidehi.
She remembered the words Ram once told her:
“Whether I am with you or not, you should always stay happy.”
From that moment, Vaidehi decided to live happily for Ram’s sake.
A few days passed. Vaidehi’s parents asked her to marry Raghu.
Vaidehi didn’t give any answer and simply walked away.
Later Vaidehi asked Raghu about marriage.
Raghu said,
“I have no problem if you are okay with this marriage. I am ready, Vaidehi. As I told you, I will always be with you. Even after marriage, I will be your friend first, and I will act as your husband. Your responsibility is to keep your parents happy. For their happiness, please say yes to this marriage.”
Vaidehi softly said, “Okay.”
After that, Vaidehi’s parents fixed the wedding date. Everyone agreed to the marriage.
Wedding day:
Suddenly, Ram came to the wedding hall.
Everyone was shocked.
Seeing Raghu and Vaidehi on the wedding stage,
Ram got angry and came to hit Raghu.
Vaidehi stopped him.
Vaidehi explained everything to Ram "Why this marriage happened, in what situation she agreed, and how good Raghu is".
Ram hugged Raghu and apologized.
Raghu asked,
"Where were you all these days? We searched for you so much."
Ram replies:
“That day, on the ship, all of you were outside, and I went inside. There, I got into a fight with a man from that gang. He hit me on the head with an iron rod, and I lost consciousness. After the fight, with the help of his men, he took me to their base.
They tortured me and asked about us and our details, but I didn’t tell them anything. One day, when they were shifting me to another base, I attacked them and escaped.
With the help of the tribal people living in the forest, I survived. I stayed there all these days. After coming back, I went near Vaidehi’s hostel.
Then I came to know that your marriage with Vaidehi was fixed. The moment I heard that, I became very angry and immediately came here.” Ram finishes telling what happened.
Raghu said, "Vaidehi’s love saved you, Ram. That’s why you came back exactly on the wedding day."
Finally, everyone arranged Ram and Vaidehi’s marriage.
Raghu’s work was done.
Ram and Vaidehi were happy.
Raghu went back to his life.
