Rachana
The story I'm about to tell you is filled with deep emotions and touches the heart. It weaves together love, trust, sacrifice, pain, and responsibility all along the same path.
Most importantly, the heroine's character stands out strong —
"A courageous young woman who, after losing her parents at a young age and being raised by her elder sister, falls in love, overcomes betrayal, and even while expecting a child, fights for her life.
The story delivers the message that the value of people is greater than that of money or status."
Story Begins:-
Rachana is studying MBBS and stays in a hostel in Hyderabad. Having lost her parents at a young age, she is lovingly cared for and educated by her elder sister Rani.
When summer holidays arrive, Rachana goes to her sister and brother-in-law’s home.
At her sister’s house:
Rachana: “Hi! How are you?” she greets as she enters the house.
Sharath: “Hey, Rachana! I’m good. How are you?”
Rachana: “I’m fine!”
Before she asks about her sister, Rani appears and says, “So this is the one who’s come!”
Rachana: “Yes, sister! How are you?”
Rani: “I’m good. How’s your education going? No issues in the hostel, right?”
Rachana: "I have no problems. I’m studying happily.”
Rani: “Oh! That's nice. Come, I’ll show you your room.”
One night, Rani says to Sharath, “we don’t have children na, let’s treat Rachana like our own daughter.”
Sharath: “I’ve always agreed with your words. What you like is what I like.”
Next Day:
Rachana: “Sister, this time teach me cooking. You always say, ‘I am a kid..’ Whatever it is, you’re going to teach me this time, and I will learn!”
Rani: “Okay, definitely I’ll teach you this time.”
Rachana: “Then today, I’ll cook for us.”
Together, the sisters start cooking, and Rachana slowly learns all the work.
A week passes. One day, while working, Rachana suddenly vomits. Rani calls Sharath and tells him about situation and asking him to come home immediately.
Sharath reached home. All three go to the hospital.
The doctor examines Rachana and says she is pregnant.
Hearing this, Rani slaps Rachana and shouts, “I thought you were quietly studying at the hostel, and this is what you’ve done? I thought of you as my child because I couldn’t have one. Is this what you give me in return?”
Sharath stops Rani and they back to home.
At home, Sharath asks Rachana who the person is and what happened.
Rachana: “His name is Varun, my senior. He’s the best student in our college, he is always helping others. We first saw each other during the welcome program on the first day of college.”
“Days passed, and one day, we had a special class, so I was late returning to the hostel. That evening, some strangers misbehaved with me and my friends. Varun, who was passing by, saved us and walked us back to the hostel. That’s how our friendship began.”
“That friendship slowly turned into love. After our term exams, seniors and juniors planned a trip to Araku. We all went together.”
“One night at Araku, we had a party. My friend gave me juice. I don’t remember anything after drinking it. When I woke up in the morning, Varun and I were in the same room.”
“We returned to the hostel that evening.”
“Later, Varun asked me to come to the temple. There, he tied the sacred thread to me 'we got married'. When I asked why he did it suddenly, he said his father wouldn’t accept our marriage, and since what happened in Araku, this was the only solution.”
“He asked me to tell to you and sister, after two months of holidays he would inform his father too. I agreed with Varun.”
“Holidays came, I came here and Varun went to his home. Before I could say everything to both of you this happened.”
Sharath: “Where do Varun’s parents stay? I’ll go talk to them.”
Rachana gives the address, and Sharath visits them and explains everything to Varun’s father.
Varun’s father: “Yes! He told me everything. Since it’s the final year, and it’s the holidays, he went to Mumbai to practice with his uncle, who’s a doctor there. He’ll be back in a week. We’ll come to your house then.”
A month passes. There’s no call or sign of Varun. Sharath and Rachana go to Varun’s house again.
Varun’s father: “He’s still not back.”
Rachana asks for Varun’s phone number or the Mumbai address.
He gives her Varun’s uncle number and address, saying, “Varun’s uncle is a busy doctor. Call when you reach.”
Rachana convinces her sister and brother-in-law and goes alone to Mumbai.
Upon reaching Mumbai, she calls the number. The person says, “Varun is in class. Wait near the railway station. He’ll be there in half an hour.”
While waiting outside the station, some men attack Rachana. She runs to escape, but being pregnant, she can’t run far and is hit by a car.
A man in the car rushes her to the hospital. When she regains consciousness, he asks what happened. Rachana tells him everything.
The man, Abhiram, says, “Don’t worry. Stay at my house. My mother and sister will take care of you.”
Rachana tells him the address. Abhiram try to find the address given by Rachana, but he discover no such address exists in Mumbai.
Abhiram’s sister suggests tracking the address via the phone number. With help from a friend who works at a mobile shop, Abhiram trace the location.
Rachana and Abhiram go there. It’s a desolate place. They find a house and search its rooms. In one room, Rachana finds Varun and runs to hug him, telling him she’s pregnant.
Just then, the men who kept Varun locked up return. Abhiram alerts them, and the three try to escape. One of the men spots them and tells the others.
Abhiram hides them. Rachana tells Varun everything how she tried to reach him, how his father said he was in Mumbai, and how someone tried to kill her.
Varun explains: “After you left, I told my father about our marriage. He didn’t agree. He had already fixed my marriage with his business partner’s daughter. When I refused, he had me kidnapped and hidden here. He probably planned to get rid of you too.”
“My father values pride and money more than life. Now that I’m out, let’s go back to your home. I’ll look for a job we’ll live happily with your sister, brother-in-law, and our baby.”
They thank Abhiram and try to leave. But the kidnappers see them. Rachana and Varun run, but a vehicle hits them. Varun is severely injured and dies on the way to the hospital.
Rachana is treated, and Varun’s father is informed. Upon hearing about his son’s death, he cries, “I earned all this money for you, and now you're gone. What’s the use of it all?”
He regrets prioritizing pride and wealth.
When Rachana says she wants to die too, he pleads, “My son is dead, but his reflection is alive in you. Don’t kill that child.”
Rachana decides to live for her unborn child.
A week later, Varun’s father visits Rachana and says:
“Varun is gone now, but his dream shouldn’t die. He wanted to become an MBBS doctor and build his own hospital. You must fulfill that dream. I will bear the expenses for your education. I’ll build the hospital. Let his dreams live on through you,” he says with hope and determination.
His words give Rachana a new purpose in life.
Few months later…
Rachana gives birth to a beautiful baby girl. She lovingly places the child in the arms of her sister Rani, who had no children of her own. “She’s not just mine; she’s ours,” Rachana says with affection.
Four years later…
Rachana completes her MBBS and begins working as a doctor in the hospital built by her father-in-law. She dedicates herself to treating many people free of cost. With her father-in-law’s support, she also shelters and cares for many orphans.
In this way, Rachana fulfilled Varun’s dream…
