A Dream Come True - # Chapter 7: Confusion

The weekend arrives... Checking the address sent by Saranya again and again… Sai travels through the streets of Chennai.

There is excitement in his heart… and a little nervousness…

“It’s my first time going to her house…” -- Thinking that he gives a small smile. Finally, he reaches the address.

But…

Seeing the atmosphere there, he suddenly gets confused. The entire house is decorated with lights… Cars outside… Full crowd inside…

Everyone is busy talking in Tamil while wearing traditional dresses. Sai cannot understand even a single word.

“I think it’s some function…” -- Thinking that he slowly walks inside.

But his eyes…Keep searching only for Saranya in the crowd.

Just then…Suddenly everyone turns towards the stage side... Sai also automatically looks there.

In that moment…His heart almost feels like it stopped.

Because…

Saranya…Wearing a beautiful saree… Simple and elegant with jewellery… Smiling while slowly walking towards the stage. Family members… Relatives… Happy atmosphere around her…

Seeing that entire scene…Sai’s mind goes blank.

Immediately his brain jumps to one conclusion:
  • Is my luck really this bad…?
  • Did I come all the way from Hyderabad to Chennai just for the engagement of the girl I like…?
  • Why does this always happen to me…?
So many thoughts run through his mind at once. The pain is clearly visible on his face.

For a few seconds…Sai cannot even breathe properly.

But…

Suddenly, they call the bride and groom onto the stage...Confused, Sai looks carefully once again.

Then he understands…It is not Saranya’s engagement. It is someone else’s engagement.

With that realization…Sai takes a deep breath. The heavy pain in his heart suddenly reduces. He silently smiles.

Seeing Sai from the stage… Saranya immediately comes down happily.

“Hey Sainath… you finally came!” -- Saranya says excitedly.

Sai smiles softly... Saranya takes him to her family.

“Dad… this is Sainath… my office colleague…” She introduces him.

Saranya’s family also receives him warmly. Speaking in Tamil mixed with Telugu and English…

They try to make Sai feel comfortable.

That evening… Among the function crowd… Many beautiful moments happen between Sai and Saranya.

Teasing each other near the food counter… Clicking photos… Small laughs… Eye contacts… Silent smiles…

Their world feels separate from everyone else. For the first time…Sai feels like maybe life is not that bad after all.

But…

At that time, Sai does not know how much that magical evening is going to change his life…

అమ్మ : “సూర్య, ఈ రోజు నీ జాబ్ కి ఫస్ట్ డే కద… తొందరగా లేచి రెడీ అవ్వు గుడికి వెళ్ళాలి” కొద్ది సేపటికి సూర్య రెడీ అయ్యాడు, “అమ్మా, నేను రెడీ అయ్యా. వెళ్దాం” అని అన్నాడు. అమ్మ చిరునవ్వుతో, “ముందు నాన్న ఫోటోకి నమస్కారం చేసి రా బాబు” అని చెప్పింది. సూర్య : సరే అమ్మా. ఫోటో ముందు చేతులు జోడించి నిలబడ్డాడు సూర్య. ఆ క్షణంలో అమ్మ మనసులో మట్లాడుతు - “ఏవండీ… మన బాబు ఈ రోజు ఉద్యోగంలో అడుగుపెడుతున్నాడు. మీరు లేనప్పుడు నేను ఒక అమ్మగానే కాకుండా, ఒక నాన్నలా, స్నేహితుడిలా, గురువులా మన బాబు ని నడిపించాను. మీరు పైనుండి చూస్తున్నారు కదా? మీకు సంతోషం అని నేను బవిస్తున్నాను.” తర్వాత అమ్మ, సూర్య కలిసి గుడికి వెల్లారు. గుడి దగ్గర: “బాబు, నువ్వు లోపలికి వెళ్లు. నేను పూలు, కొబ్బరికాయ తీసుకువస్తాను” అని అమ్మ అన్నది. “నేను కూడా వస్తాను అమ్మ” అని సూర్య అన్నాడు. అలా పక్కనే ఉన్న పూజా స్టోర్ కి వెళ్తూ ఉండగా, అకస్మాత్తుగా ఒక పిచ్చివాడు ఎదురై, గట్టిగా అరుస్తూ - “జాగ్రత్త బాబు… జాగ్రత్త! అమ్మా, నీ కొడుకును జాగ్రత్తగా చూసుకో!” అని అన్నాడు. అమ్మ ఒక్కసారిగా దిగ్భ్రాంతి చెందింది. కానీ పక్కనే ఉన్న దుకాణ యజమాని - “అమ్మ...
